A Bird in the Suburbs
I think I’d like to be a bird in the suburbs. Swooping freely from garden to garden. Picking my favourite seeds, worms, nuts and berries. Carefully prepared and abundantly provided by nature and neighbours alike. Resting under solar panels, tiles and soffits. Bathing and drinking in gutters and the frogs of bricks. Hiding in hedges. Spinning round branches. Chasing through alleys. Sitting on chimneys and aerials, and lining the peaks of roofs to whistle and sing for the sun. Yeh, I’d love to be a bird in the suburbs. Except for when that Sparrow Hawk comes!
